They skrewed me over...all of them
There are some pretty good programs that help those with disabilities...Of coarse, that's only what they claim. They say that they're good, but that's just a ruse to draw you into a trap.
I have two disabilities, neither of them really disables me. The first of the two is epilepsy. I have seizures. The reason I am not disabled by epilepsy is for two reasons. The first reason is that I have nocternal seizures. In other words, I only have seizures at night. The second reason is that my medication has been controlling my seizures. My second disability is PPD-NOS (Pervasive Developemental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified). Never heard of it? I'm not suprised. Have heard of it? I'm impressed. PDD is not a disorder itself, but a range of disorders. The range of disorders that autism and asburgers are in. PDD-NOS means that I'm classified as having PDD, but couldn't be placed into a specific classification.
The first way I was skrewed over was just not getting the help and services that I needed in the first place. When I lived in New York, they said that I 'didn't qualify' for the services that I needed. That includes medical insurance, Social Security, and just not having the option to get a job in the area that I lived. Now I'm kind of thinking that I was better off back then.
When I moved to California in 2007, I finally became eligible for the services that I needed. That includes SSI (Social Security Insurance), Medi-Cal (medical insurance), and I got a job specifically because they saw my disability (but could still work). I thought that my life couldn't get much better...Well it could've, but my life was no longer a piece of $#!+. Things were going well for several months, almost a year...It was to good to be true.
It starts off with losing my job. I got fired under fair conditions...If it was my fault that I was late. I mainly have the busses to blame. Of coarse it had to be a Sunday, when the busses run every hour rather than every half-hour. I got to the bus stop just in time to watch the bus that I need to catch leave. Having to rely on the busses as a main form of transportation is anything but convenient.
Next comes SSI. I was getting a frequent monthly check from SSI in order to help make payments. But each time I have to pay more money for bills, they ended up sending less. In fact it got to the point where they said they were sending to much and that we owed them. But it doesn't end there. When I lost my job, soon afterwards they stopped sending checks. When I lose my job is when they are supposed to send more money. They in fact said that the reason that they stopped the checks was because I stopped sending in my pay stubs from work. But it wasn't because I lost my job that they stopped sending me checks. It was because they haven't been getting pay stubs from me for several months. The thing is that I have and told them that I lost my job. But they were getting the pay stubs and had them on file. They just didn't get their shit together and think to do something as outragious as check them. They finally did get their shit together though.
Now to the point that I'm trying to make. I December 2007 I had a neurology appointment. I had Medi-Cal at that point, but I didn't have the ID card yet. At the UCSD medical center, they said that when I brought in my card, they would bill Medi-Cal. THEY LIED. A year later, I got a bill. Not directly from the medical center, but from a collection agiency. Because it was sent to a collection agiency, it'll leave a mark on my credit history. A credit history that I haven't even started yet, got a negative strike.
I'm just wondering who I should be upset the most with, Medi-Cal for not taking care of the bill, UCSD medical center for lying to me, or the collection agiency for scarring my credit history and scarring me emotionally. I just want to say that I am &#@%ing pissed off!
